Spring has unofficially transitioned into summer and with the first week of June only a few days away, we are excited to be adding, or continuing to add, décor to our outdoor spaces. We really like outdoor décor that is practical and functional, and will work in almost any environment, so here are some of our ideas on spicing up your gardens, backyards, porches, and patios this summer (and for summers to come!).
Going to the Birds
Bird watching can be done in almost any location, but outside your door is one of the best places not only in the summertime, but all year long. Welcome your avian companions with a full birdfeeder and bird bath, or a cheerful birdhouse in your gardens or near the edge of a forest. You can certainly purchase these accents, but making them can be just as fun too. Either way, your backyard will be adequately equipped to attract birds throughout the year, and it will be decorated with varying materials and colors.
Brighten Your Yard
Lighting is a crucial accent for any yard, large or small. Instead of vying for plain designs and shapes, look for outdoor lighting options that complement your home’s style, or any other outdoor décor. Lanterns, flameless pillar candles, or even tiki torches can set a country, casual, romantic, or festive mood for any backyard. A fire pit or outdoor fireplace is sometimes the best investment, as it provides warmth and lighting for you and your guests.
Seating for Everyone
Whether it’s a large patio or a small front porch, seating is a must-have. For less standard seating options, search for chairs, benches, and outdoor ottomans in stripes and prints that complement each other in color schemes, or mix and match wood chairs with a stone table. When it comes down to it, just be creative. Purchase standard chairs and then craft your own seat cushions, or start from scratch and construct your own seating to best match your home or outdoor vision and style.
