Bronze Desk Lamp with Outlet

Bronze Spindle Metal Lamps - Set of 3

The fall season has started here at Sturbridge Yankee Workshop, and to avoid wishing summer away, this week’s Must-Have list focuses on timeless home accents that you will use year round. When the September Equinox does come around and the sun starts appearing for shorter amounts of time during the day, you’ll be prepared with these functional and stylish lighting options – all of which are on sale.

Ultimate Function

Besides its obvious function of illuminating your workspace, this lamp provides further use with a built-in outlet on the base. Now you can charge your cell phone, laptop and other electronics while you work, and without overcrowding your wall outlet. The dark bronze finish will complement your office décor, and has three adjustment points for focusing the light right where you need it.

Capiz Rooster Night Light

Three are Better Than One

For matching lighting in your bedroom or a family room, we are excited to offer you this set of two table lamps and a floor lamp. With an eye-catching spindle design, woven shade and a complementary black metal base, each lamp makes a statement anywhere in your home, and creates a consistent and stylish look throughout.

Mason Jar PendantStylish Illumination

This isn’t an ordinary night light, but that’s exactly why it’s a must-have. The beautiful colors of the rooster make a lively and classic statement anywhere in your home, and you will enjoy the light shining through an authentic capiz shell insert. The combination of metal and shell create an interesting accent piece that will look just as good during the day as it does at nighttime.

Antiqued Cage Pendant

The Mason Jar is a favorite piece of country décor because of its simplicity and versatility. This Ceiling Pendant exemplifies these characteristics, as it can be used in multiples over a kitchen counter, individually in an entryway, or in a charming bathroom (as well as in any other room in your home!). The fabric cord gives it antiqued appeal, and the glass shade with the classic Mason Jar imprint complements other Mason Jar décor and lighting.

Industrial style and country charm come together in this caged pendant. Antiqued for primitive appeal, this pendant is just the right size for hanging above a breakfast nook, a small kitchen counter or in the entryway of your home. It complements other caged lighting, and you can add more style by using a decorative bulb or our Nostalgic Bulb.

Ruffly Patriotic Wreath - Capital B BlogBy now your home is probably beautifully decorated in all things red, white and blue, so for this week’s décor article we have found some DIY projects that we couldn’t pass on sharing – and they can be done in time for the 4th. Also included are some accents that you may not be able to get in time for Saturday, but they are great for decorating next year or if you want to keep an Americana look in your home all year long.

There are many homemade wreath options for all seasons and celebrations throughout the year. A popular wreath trend, especially in the DIY world, is the ruffle wreath. They are fun to make, and with the proper care can be used year after year. We like this particular Patriotic Wreath because of the star accents; you can choose to leave them off but it definitely gives this wreath added dimension and style.

Table Setting - Better Homes and GardensIf you’ve planned an Independence Day celebration outside, there is still plenty of room to decorate in the patriotic spirit. To relieve a clean-up headache, go for paper plates and cups that are 4th of July themed or red, white and blue. Or, buy a set of inexpensive dinnerware in USA colors to add festivity to your table. You can also incorporate your condiments, plastic or silverware, and other food necessities into your table settings by upcycling and decorating empty coffee containers or Mason jars. Paint them and add colorful ribbon to give them festive flair.

America & Flag Sign Blocks

For keeping up the patriotic spirit in your décor all year long, vie for staple home accents, like pillows or rugs decorated in the red, white and blue, or decorate your home in stars, USA-themed collectibles, and infamous historical faces.
No matter your personal taste, there are endless ways to adorn your home in Americana style. So express your patriotic spirit – for the 4th of July and throughout the year with DIY projects and charming home accents!

Thursday’s Theme: Pet Decor

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

This week has been a special Pet Appreciation Week, although we know the appreciation you have for your pets extends to much longer than a week. We share our lives with our pets, as well as our homes, so we couldn’t think of a better topic for this week’s Décor article than pet décor! From accessories and necessities for your pets, to pet themed décor for your enjoyment, there are many ways for you to show appreciation towards your pet in addition to the love you give them.

For Your Pet

Spoiling our pets is almost second nature, whether it is with a variety of squeaky toys or delicious treats. If you’d like to replace that cardboard treat box on your counter with something that complements your kitchen or entryway décor, you have many options. You could try something simple, like a large Mason jar with a ribbon and a handmade nametag, or you can find a stylish tin to store those dog or cat treats inside. If you’re feeling crafty, you could even craft your own treat holder to place by a back door, complete with a leash hook!

Dog Treat TinFor those of you with feline companions, cat nip may be on your cat’s necessity list. There are many stylish cat nip options available, but it’s also relatively easy to do-it-yourself. Sew Licious Home Décor has a great tutorial on crafting cat nip out of fabric and string that you can use time and time again to please your pet.

For Your Home

There are countless décor items you can incorporate into your home that are pet themed, like rugs, sculptures and figurines, picture frames, pillows, and so much more. However, if you are looking to get a little more detail oriented and personal with your pet décor, you may consider screen-printing a picture of your furry loved one onto a decorative pillow or throw.

Kitty Face Pillow

For ideas on how to effectively design your own screen-printed pillow, we found a fun how-to on the Yellow Brick Home blog, complete with cute pet reactions to seeing the images on home accents. This is a great way to showcase any larger, non-house pets you may have, like horses or other farm animals. You’ll be able to show your love for them inside your home, during the times you can’t be outside with them.

We’d love to see how you’ve decorated in honor of your furry family members, and how you show your appreciation for them. Happy decorating!
