Tuesday Recipe: Lemon Iced Tea

Tuesday, June 9th, 2015

Tea Time Clock TinWe hope you are enjoying June so far, and enjoying the nice weather, outside activities, and other events that are happening around you. June is National Iced Tea Month, so we couldn’t go too long without an iced tea recipe. This is a basic recipe for when you need something quick and easy, or refreshing and classic. Take it along with you to a barbecue, a birthday party, or keep it in your fridge for a hot afternoon.

What you’ll need:

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 8 tea bags (Orange Pekoe Tea is recommended)
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 gallon jar or beverage dispenser

  1. Measure sugar and place in a large mixing bowl with 1 cup of lemon juice to dissolve.
  2. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan, remove from heat and place tea bags in the pan to steep for a maximum of 5 minutes (do not squeeze the tea bags!).
  3. Remove tea bags and discard. Pour hot tea into sugar/lemon mixture and stir to mix well.
  4. Transfer into gallon container and fill to the top with cold water, refrigerate.
  5. Add lemon or mint for a garnish, serve over ice.

Top 5 Monday Must-Haves: The Great Outdoors

Monday, June 8th, 2015

June is a great time to get outside and enjoy natural sights, favorite parks, and beautiful flowers along with the great weather associated with summer. In fact, June has been designated as National Outdoors Month, and is supplemented by various events throughout the month to inspire people to get outside and explore. For this week’s Must-Haves, we are bringing you some outdoors-y inspiration for your home décor, so you can enjoy the great outdoors inside your home as well as outside.

Canoe Dog Pillow

On the Water

For many people, getting outdoors has a lot to do with retreating to an aquatic location, whether that is a backyard swimming pool, a river, a lake, or the ocean. Our Canoe Dog Pillow incorporates the water activities of canoeing and fishing with a canine companion – a member of the family for some of us. The hand hooked wool provides soft comfort while the colors add some life to any furniture and room.Coastal Serenity Print

For a more realistic image, our Coastal Serenity Print gives us a beautiful, sloping view of the ocean, lined with traditional homes and calming greenery. Incorporate into your nautical or nature-inspired décor during the summertime, or display all year round as a reminder of the great outdoors during the summer months.

For a lakeside home or retreat, our Go Jump in the Lake Sign is a fun piece of wall décor that will motivate you to go outside and enjoy the cool water, whether you actually jump in or just enjoy the view from the shoreline.Go Jump in the Lake Sign

Back on Land

Even on those not-so-sunny days you want to be reminded of the joys of the outdoors. The above items will do this, as will our Beige Garden Delight Pillow. With flower and bird imagery, you won’t just love admiring this pillow; you’ll love the comfort it provides you with as you read a book or take an afternoon nap.

Finally, you’ll need something that helps to keep your home clean from sand, dirt, and mud that can be tracked through. Our Wipe Your Paws Rug features cute imagery of a dog running through flowers, and an attention-grabbing green color that will keep its vibrancy year after year. Use it inside an entryway or outside on a covered porch to keep your home clean and decorated this summer.Beige Garden Delight PillowWipe Your Paws Rug
