Minimal Coffee Table Styling

Thursday, September 29th, 2016

Lavishly decorated coffee tables are beautiful for holidays and special occasions, or in a room you don’t use that often. But for the everyday, minimal-fuss decor on your coffee table can offer plenty of style with the practicality you need. Here are the basic ways to style your coffee table – and remember, less decor is more!

Glass jars and bowls are decorative in almost any arrangement, and you can add personal flair by filling them with ornaments, lights, potpourri and many other items. The single apothecary jar shown above can be placed next to magazines and books for decorative appeal, without getting in the way of your daily activities.

Trays and trugs are also versatile when it comes to decorating your coffee table, as they are available in a wide variety of sizes and can hold seasonal decoratives, fruit or electronics. If you’re in an apartment or have little counter and table space, a trug or ceramic dish on a coffee table can also serve as a place to keep your keys, money and other miscellaneous items.

Candles always look great on a coffee table, and you can employ pillar candles, tapers with decorative taper holders or tealights to create a romantic or rustic look that is not too over the top. A symmetrical look always works, or you can embellish the space around the candle with a wreath, family photos, collectibles and other small home accents. Flameless candles are ideal for a busy household or if you want a worry-free option, whereas burning candles have the aromatic element for extra appeal.

Thursday, October 17th, 2013

One way to easily transition into the holiday spirit is with a fresh Maine wreath. At Sturbridge, we are proud to carry real balsam greenery from our friends at Mainely Wreaths in downeast Maine. For the upcoming holiday season we have a selection of freshly picked balsam branches that are formed to create the most beautiful wreaths and centerpieces.

Downeast Maine

The downeast region of Maine refers to our eastern most coast. This includes places you might be familiar with, like Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Downeast Maine is also home to beautiful wildlife and vast regions of none other than the Maine Balsam Fir, which is a variety of our state tree, the Eastern White Pine. This fir tree is the only fir tree of its kind that is truly native to Maine woods. They can grow to 60 or 70 feet tall and their trunks usually measure 12-20 inches in diameter. As they are one of the most abundant trees in Maine, the damp forest and well drained hillsides in this area, allow the tree to thrive.

Balsam Fir trees are distinguished from Spruce trees by their flat needles and upright cones; making them ideal for use in wreath making. You will find that our wreaths made from Mainely Wreaths, will bring the true spirit of holidays in Maine to life in your home. Their attention to detail and experienced craftsmanship are above the rest.

Pinecones a Plenty

Our Pinecone & Millet Wreath, seen here to the right, will complement holiday scenes from the front door to the back yard. Whether your taste is traditional or contemporary, this exclusive wreath features pinecones and millet sprigs. Millet is typically referred to as a group of small species of grains, that appears to look like wheat grass you might see in a field. Our Pinecone & Millet Wreath is great because it offers an alternative to traditional style wreaths, like our Traditional Wreath with Red Bow, pictured above. Including mini red berries and mini pinecones, this wreath option creates a warm welcome for all your guests this season.
