Tasteful Tuesday: Slow-Cooker Applesauce

We love anything we can cook in a slow-cooker or crock pot, and this applesauce is no exception. Just a few ingredients are all you need to make the most delicious applesauce and keep your home smelling warm and sweet.

ApplesauceWhat you’ll need:

  • 4 lbs apples, cored and sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Directions:

  1. Place apples with the cinnamon and sugar into the crock pot and mix.
  2. Pour water and lemon juice over the apple mixture.
  3. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours. Enjoy for breakfast or an afternoon snack!

New England Applesauce

Cinnamon Apple SwagIt’s apple month! Celebrate with this great recipe. Did you know that applesauce can be frozen? The taste and texture will not be changed. Check out New England Apple Growers for more great recipe ideas.

You Will Need:
4 lbs New England apples
1 Cup honey
1 Cup water
1 Tbs ground cinnamon

Instructions:
Peel, core and cut apples into wedges.
In a large kettle, combine all ingredients.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer 20-25 minutes or until apples are fork-tender.
Mash apples to a chunky texture or use food processor for a smooth sauce.
