Whether you’re celebrating National Tequila Day (July 24th), hosting a summer barbecue or are looking to try a new beverage, here are three classic tequila cocktail recipes (each serves one) to get you started – just choose your type of tequila and get mixing!
Classic Margarita
What You’ll Need:
- 1 cup ice
- 2 ounces tequila
- 1½ ounces triple sec
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- lime wedge and/or coarse salt for garnish
Directions:
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Cover and shake vigorously until outside of the shaker has frosted.
- If desired, add coarse salt to the rim of a glass. Strain mixture into the prepared glass, and if desired, garnish with a slice of lime.

Paloma
What You’ll Need:
- 1/2 cup ice
- 2 ounces tequila
- 1½ tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
- 4 ounces freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- 2 ounces club soda
- coarse salt for garnish
Directions:
- If desired, add coarse salt to the rim of a glass.
- Combine ice, tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice and club soda in the glass and stir until combined.

Tequila Sunrise
What You’ll Need:
- 1½ ounces tequila
- 3/4 cup freshly squeeze orange juice
- 1/2 cup ice
- 1½ ounces grenadine syrup
- 1 slice of orange and 1 maraschino cherry for garnish
Directions:
- Fill a cocktail shaker with the tequila and orange juice. Cover and shake vigorously until combined.
- Fill a chilled glass with ice and pour in orange juice+tequila mixture.
- Slowly pour in the grenadine and allow it to settle on the bottom. Add garnishes, if desired.
