The Natural Beauty of Decorating with Green

As we’re well into the winter season and much of us tired of the weather it has brought, it’s not too soon to begin thinking ahead towards spring. Bring the beauty of nature into your home with botanical and other natural inspired decor elements.

Decorating with Green

When we think of the fresh outdoors, typically the color green comes to mind. And this works perfectly, because the Pantone Color Institute has named 2013’s color of the year: Emerald. The rich green hue boasts energy, boldness, and a true sophistication. While the emerald gemstone does come to mind, consider using this regal color to provide contrast with more neutral tones. This combination lends well to the lush green of gardens and forests, the rejuvenation of flora in the spring, and a calm environment. Expand beyond emerald to include the many shades of green in your home decor. From sage to olive, and lime to forest, the range of green is endless. Furthermore, green is said to be one of the easiest colors on the eyes. It’s unique to any other color because our eyes actually use green to recognize and interpret the other colors in the spectrum.

Natural Beauty of Ferns

Here at Sturbridge Yankee Workshop we have a selection of green, nature inspired products, that will bring life into your home in no time. A good place to start is with our Set/6 Botanical Fern Prints; shown above. Six different fern species achieve the look of pressed leaves in this striking wall art collection. The many shades of green form the ferns, each with their own distinctive appeal. Customers will note the intricate attention the artist paid to the leaf veins and stems. Display together for a grand focal point in any room. Or for your floors, try the new Coir Fern Runner, shown here to the right. Printed with non-toxic UV dyes to resist fading, the design rests on natural coir. Woven cotton, green tape edges frame the rug runner on either side. The rug’s natural scrubbing feature will essentially brush off your shoes, keeping the entrance to your home cleaner.
