~ Tuesday Recipe: Summertime Tomato Tart

Today’s recipe is a hearty, yet light option for you and your family this summer. Courtesy of our Farmers’ Market Favorite Recipes Cookbook featured just below, you may consider this alternative the next time you’re craving pizza. A Summertime Tomato Tart, highlighted by fresh tomatoes and basil.

What You’ll Need:

4 tomatoes, sliced

9-inch pie crust

8-ounce package, shredded mozzarella cheese (or grate/shred your own, using our stainless steel Lexington Hand Grater)

2 T. fresh basil, chopped

1/4 c. olive oil


1. Arrange tomato slices in bottom of pie crust. (Consider a stoneware pie dish, if you don’t already have one, such as our Stoneware Deep Pie Dish, seen below).

2. Sprinkle evenly with both cheese and basil.

3. Drizzle with oil.

4. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.

5. Let stand for 5 minutes before slicing.

6. Serves 6, enjoy!
