*~ Winter Décor Ideas ~*

Friday, January 20th, 2012

When it comes to winter decorating, there are many ways to highlight your home in its best light this season with Sturbridge Yankee Workshop. Consider the color palette of white, silver and gold to accent your decor in our Winter Wonderland of home furnishings and decoratives shown below. Choosing only a few colors to shine here and there, creates a cohesive and more formal look throughout your home. The contrast between these subtle but beautiful hues and the rest of your decor, will show off a true classic look. Think about ways to incorporate white, silver and gold in all areas of your home. For example in the kitchen or dining room, use your finest white or stainless steel dinnerware and long stemmed glasses when serving guests. In the bed and bathroom choose your whitest linens to display. Our Snowflake Knit Throw will look great tossed on a bed, chair or couch. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

A Soft Glow

In terms of lighting your Winter Wonderland, use white tree lights to highlight different areas of your home. String close together to enhance either a large picture window or your stair case. Two lighting options from Sturbridge we know you’ll love, are our Plum Tree Lights, seen here to the left and our Starlight Copper Chandelier. Our Plum Tree Lights are great because they offer versatility, thanks to their bendable branches. Creating romantic mood lighting, but also displayed in such a way that they appear as snow covered branches. Arrange these silk blossoms in your favorite vase or container and display on a table or hall table. Or, let stand alone and incorporate into a mantle display; the thin cord is 98″ long so it’s easy to manipulate and tuck out of sight. The chandelier is made from antiqued copper that frames the dozens of panes of glass. Making a striking statement in any room, this lighting fixture will help add to the ambiance of your home.

Elegant Flooring

New to our rug collection here at Sturbridge is our Modern Damask Silver Rug. seen here to the left. Adding a touch of updated sophistication to any bedroom, living room or home office space, you’ll find this area rug is truly gorgeous. The handmade and hand tufted rug is crafted of heavy 100% wool to ensure durability and quality for years to come. Utilizing different pile height and yarn types to maximize the texture and softness of our elegant accent rug. A silver base supports the cream colored and formal wallpaper inspired, vintage design that is an interior design dream. Other snowy white flooring options offered at Sturbridge, are our Friends Welcome Rug and our Winter Wonderland Rug. Both of these adorable accent rugs or doormats can be used to welcome in guests from the cold in an entryway of your home; or try beneath the kitchen sink. The first rug is designed by Phyllis Stevens and the later by Harry Smith. If you’re looking for an eco-friendly option either of these rugs will work because of their 100% jute fiber material.

White Accents

Continuing on with our Winter Wonderland theme, we share with you our Swan Sculpture, pictured here to the left. Let this remarkable resin carved sculpture of a swan grace your home this season. With the appearance of wood, the beautiful swan features a chipped paint application resulting in a worn, antiqued look. The distressing achieved allows for black paint underneath to be shown, which creates texture to the birds “feathers.” Another wintery white accent you might consider is our Heavenly Angel Ornament. Our twinkling Heavenly Angel Ornament comes from talented designer Bethany Lowe and is such a pretty collectible you’ll want to display it all year round. The angel delicately hangs on a low crescent moon, holding up a bright star for all to see.
