Family & Friends

Gathering with friends and family is not just something we are thankful for during the holidays, but are thankful for every opportunity to show those close to us how important they are.

We are definitely thankful for our pets – from horses to cats and dogs to the smallest goldfish.

Home-Cooked Meals

There’s nothing like a home-cooked meal to fill our homes with warm aromas and feelings of love that go into  the most thoughtful breakfasts, heartiest dinners and sweetest desserts (especially around the holidays when we can share with friends and family).

The Simple Things

These include laughter, politeness, conversation and all other of life’s simple things. They bring us down to earth and give us a little relief when other things are a little chaotic.

And of course, we are thankful for all of you who welcome us into your homes and are gracious with words of endearment as well as suggestions on how we can serve you better. Thank you!

What are five things you are most thankful for? Express them here or around the dinner

Wednesday Spotlight: Bookends

Wednesday, August 5th, 2015

We have entered the last full month of summer, and we hope that you’ve been able to cross off most if not all of those titles on your summer reading list. To give you some decorative ideas for displaying and organizing your tomes, this week we are spotlighting some of our favorite bookends. We hope you’ll find a pair to complement your décor, and we would love to hear how you keep your treasured books in place! Happy reading!

Westie Bookends

This cute Westie pair is a customer favorite. Whether you decorate with doggy or pet décor, or like simply designed, rustic pieces for displaying in your home, these bookends will become a classic staple on your bookshelf, and will always look excited to see you as you grab your next title.

Whale Bookends

For nautical or beach house décor, these Whale Bookends have been creatively designed to complement oceanic accents. The continuation of the whale through the books you place in the middle adds nice movement to a stationary bookcase or cocktail table. The distressed surface gives it an antiqued look, great for providing a cozy atmosphere in your favorite room.

Another distressed, antiqued pair is the tall rabbits that are simply designed to complement any décor. Whether you choose to display them among other animal or spring décor, or decide to create an imaginative reading nook around the books they hold these fun rabbits will be a welcome addition to your home.

Rabbit BookendsOwl BookendsBookend LampOwls are associated with wisdom, so it makes sense to incorporate them around your books that are full of knowledge and storytelling. Like the Whale Bookends, this pair creates movement through your horizontal stack of books with the tree branch they are perched on. Incorporate a bird theme into your library or office nook with these bookends, or simply display them as a cute accent piece.

Last but not least is our Bookend Lamp. Although you will have to be a little more selective with the books you choose to display with this, you get ample lighting for any reading nook, office space or family room. The scrolled design and antiqued appearance give this accent a worldly aesthetic; perfect for travelling the worlds between the pages of your favorite novels.

Thursday’s Theme: Pet Decor

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

This week has been a special Pet Appreciation Week, although we know the appreciation you have for your pets extends to much longer than a week. We share our lives with our pets, as well as our homes, so we couldn’t think of a better topic for this week’s Décor article than pet décor! From accessories and necessities for your pets, to pet themed décor for your enjoyment, there are many ways for you to show appreciation towards your pet in addition to the love you give them.

For Your Pet

Spoiling our pets is almost second nature, whether it is with a variety of squeaky toys or delicious treats. If you’d like to replace that cardboard treat box on your counter with something that complements your kitchen or entryway décor, you have many options. You could try something simple, like a large Mason jar with a ribbon and a handmade nametag, or you can find a stylish tin to store those dog or cat treats inside. If you’re feeling crafty, you could even craft your own treat holder to place by a back door, complete with a leash hook!

Dog Treat TinFor those of you with feline companions, cat nip may be on your cat’s necessity list. There are many stylish cat nip options available, but it’s also relatively easy to do-it-yourself. Sew Licious Home Décor has a great tutorial on crafting cat nip out of fabric and string that you can use time and time again to please your pet.

For Your Home

There are countless décor items you can incorporate into your home that are pet themed, like rugs, sculptures and figurines, picture frames, pillows, and so much more. However, if you are looking to get a little more detail oriented and personal with your pet décor, you may consider screen-printing a picture of your furry loved one onto a decorative pillow or throw.

Kitty Face Pillow

For ideas on how to effectively design your own screen-printed pillow, we found a fun how-to on the Yellow Brick Home blog, complete with cute pet reactions to seeing the images on home accents. This is a great way to showcase any larger, non-house pets you may have, like horses or other farm animals. You’ll be able to show your love for them inside your home, during the times you can’t be outside with them.

We’d love to see how you’ve decorated in honor of your furry family members, and how you show your appreciation for them. Happy decorating!
