Tasteful Tuesday: Three Tequila Cocktails

Classic Margarita | Cocktail Recipe | Sturbridge Yankee Workshop

Whether you’re celebrating National Tequila Day (July 24th), hosting a summer barbecue or are looking to try a new beverage, here are three classic tequila cocktail recipes (each serves one) to get you started – just choose your type of tequila and get mixing!

Classic Margarita

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup ice
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1½ ounces triple sec
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • lime wedge and/or coarse salt for garnish

Directions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Cover and shake vigorously until outside of the shaker has frosted.
  2. If desired, add coarse salt to the rim of a glass. Strain mixture into the prepared glass, and if desired, garnish with a slice of lime.

GrapefruitPaloma

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1½ tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 4 ounces freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • coarse salt for garnish

Directions:

  1. If desired, add coarse salt to the rim of a glass.
  2. Combine ice, tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice and club soda in the glass and stir until combined.

Tequila Sunrise

What You’ll Need:

  • 1½ ounces tequila
  • 3/4 cup freshly squeeze orange juice
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1½ ounces grenadine syrup
  • 1 slice of orange and 1 maraschino cherry for garnish

Directions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with the tequila and orange juice. Cover and shake vigorously until combined.
  2. Fill a chilled glass with ice and pour in orange juice+tequila mixture.
  3. Slowly pour in the grenadine and allow it to settle on the bottom. Add garnishes, if desired.

Summer Sides: Dinner Rolls & Margaritas

Sides are just as important as the meal itself; especially when bread and margaritas are involved! These Parmesan Dinner Rolls are easy to make and will definitely hold your guests over until you serve the main course, or give you something simple to bring along to a friend’s barbecue (just make sure to give yourself time for the dough to rise!). We also found a refreshing peach margarita recipe that is one-of-a-kind and sure to delight; try both of these recipes for your next summertime event!

Red Utility BoardParmesan Dinner Rolls

What you’ll need:

  • 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 loaves (about 2 pounds) thawed bread dough
  • 1 cup salted butter, melted

Directions:

  1. Grease two 12-cup muffin tins.
  2. Combine the Parmesan and oregano in a small bowl.
  3. Cut bread dough into 24 pieces, then cut each piece into three (72 total).
  4. Roll each piece into a ball and dip first into the melted butter, then press into the Parmesan cheese. Place three balls of dough in each muffin cup.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap or a cloth and let rise in a warm space until doubled in size; about 6 hours.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375ºF. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
