Quick Tip: Holiday Decorating in a Bedroom (Halloween)

Achieving seasonal whimsy in a bedroom is as simple as adding a festive accent pillow, an in-season flower arrangement, wreath or garland, and adding a candle or two. Take it a step further and incorporate a soft sculpture, large figurine and/or holiday-specific lighting. You will be able to achieve a festive look that complements – and doesn’t clash – with your staple home accents.

Weekly Spotlight: Halloween 2018

Wednesday, September 5th, 2018

If you have shopped our catalog or website you know we have Halloween fever – and although our Fall/Halloween catalog isn’t here for long, it is full of charm and style. Today we are spotlighting Halloween items that will make this October 31st the most decorative one yet. And since we couldn’t quite narrow our selection down to five, we’ve included a bonus sixth item to Spotlight. Let’s get into it.

Dog & Cat Trick or Treaters Pillow | Mary Lake Thompson | Sturbridge Yankee WorkshopThese two pillows each bring something different to your festive home. Artist Mary Lake Thompson designed the one on the left, which features a dog and a cat all dressed up for trick-or-treating. This pillow is soft enough for your indoor furniture and fade resistant in outdoor spaces. The hooked wool pillow below should only be placed indoors, but its simple design allows the seasonal message and imagery to shine.

Lighting that sets a spooky mood is always a great addition to Halloween displays, and since we are in the midst of our Lighting Sale, now is a great time to browse our Halloween lighting. For example, our Halloween Tin Luminaries, Witch & Cauldron Lantern Light, Haunted House Accent Light and Fiona Witch Gourd Tealight Holder all offer different ways to illuminate your [haunted] house. Whether you prefer a light that plugs in, runs on batteries or is lit up with a candle, you’ll find the perfect spooky lighting solution in our catalog.

Monday Must-Haves: Halloween Characters

Monday, August 28th, 2017

Our Halloween collection is full of whimsical collectibles, wall art and pillows, as well as timeless characters and symbols that will make every year just as spooky (and charming) as the last. For the next two weeks you can get special savings on our batty, ghostly and witchy decor, including the following five must-haves.

Come Sit a Spell Doormat

Come sit a spell on the stoop, and fend off myths of bad luck with this black cat. Made in the USA, this doormat designed by Dianna Swartz will add charm to your porch or front steps, and keep your entryway free of mud and dirt this fall.

All Hallow's Eve Lighted Shadow Box

Trick or Treat Halloween SignBlack cats also appear in Bethany Lowe’s All Hallow’s Eve Shadow Box, which also features vintage imagery that appears on many other home accents.

A whimsical rhyme at the bottom of the box offers the following wish: “By pumpkins fat and witches lean…By coal black cats with eyes of green…By all the magic ever seen…I wish you luck this HALLOWEEN!!”

Offering up the option of a Trick or Treat is a USA made, SYW exclusive sign featuring a black bat and spooky typography. The handcrafted frame and birch wood add a rustic look to your seasonal home accents and Halloween displays.

A little ghost can add a classic Halloween look to your collectibles and seasonal decor, and this one will also brighten them up. An LED light illuminates this waxy figure holding a BOO banner, and the included bag and twine make this accent a perfect party favor, too.

Finally, one of our newest witch sculptures. Nellie here holds a broomstick, ready to fly off into the night. Shiny gold accents adorn the bow on her hat, her legs and the bodice of her black dress for a sparkling look on a shelf or mantel.
