Thursday’s Theme: Pumpkins on the Porch

Thursday, August 30th, 2018

August is ending, leaves are changing and the kids are back in school – autumn is certainly upon us! It’s no secret that we’ve been in fall mode for over a month now, but it’s time to kick off a series of harvest season posts here on the blog. We hope you’re able to draw some inspiration for your own fall decorating as well as share how you’re accenting your home for fall; indoors or out.

For today, we’re featuring four creative ways to display pumpkins on your front porch, back deck, walkway or any outdoor space. Let’s get into it.

One of the top things that make fall decorating so fun is the simplicity;
nature basically does the decorating for us, we just have to add our own
personal touches. If you have outdoor planters that you fill with autumn
flowers, or have plants still thriving from summertime, give them a harvest
look with pumpkins. Smaller sizes work the best, and we recommend
using the classic bright orange variety. Throwing in a couple of extra gourds
adds even more welcoming color and texture.

Of course, you don’t need planters to achieve this look.
A wicker basket, wood trug and similar home accents
filled with pumpkins all offer a bountiful look to outdoor
living spaces. Add hay, straw or even fallen leaves for added charm.

Now this is creative.
Put a witchy spin on your front porch pumpkins by arranging them in a trellis
(find it here) – just stack them on top of each other until its full. Add a pointed
hat and voila! A Halloween decorative that works for Autumn, too.

Last but certainly not least, create a stack of pumpkins that showcases
initials, a painted design or even your address. Planter not required.

Monday Must-Haves: Fall 2018 Pumpkins

Monday, August 27th, 2018

These five must-have home accents celebrate the harvest season in the same way: with pumpkins!

Our newest braided table runner features three pumpkins, decorative bittersweets and rich harvest colors for a table or countertop. As always, the reverse side of this home accent is without the pumpkins so you can decorate your home with these colorful braids all year long. Another indoor pumpkin home accent is the Pumpkin Bird Hooked Wool Pillow, which offers a beautiful color palette with deep and light hues – and we can’t forget about the charming little bird perched on top of the pumpkin!

Although summer is coming to an end that doesn’t mean all of our time will be spent indoors, so add a couple of outdoor home accents that complement the season and the actual pumpkins you will likely be displaying on a front porch or stoop. Our Pumpkin Garden collection features vibrant, detailed imagery designed by artist Susan Winget, and the Three Pumpkins Garden Flag Stake is the perfect way to display the garden flag.

Monday Must-Haves: Halloween Characters

Monday, August 28th, 2017

Our Halloween collection is full of whimsical collectibles, wall art and pillows, as well as timeless characters and symbols that will make every year just as spooky (and charming) as the last. For the next two weeks you can get special savings on our batty, ghostly and witchy decor, including the following five must-haves.

Come Sit a Spell Doormat

Come sit a spell on the stoop, and fend off myths of bad luck with this black cat. Made in the USA, this doormat designed by Dianna Swartz will add charm to your porch or front steps, and keep your entryway free of mud and dirt this fall.

All Hallow's Eve Lighted Shadow Box

Trick or Treat Halloween SignBlack cats also appear in Bethany Lowe’s All Hallow’s Eve Shadow Box, which also features vintage imagery that appears on many other home accents.

A whimsical rhyme at the bottom of the box offers the following wish: “By pumpkins fat and witches lean…By coal black cats with eyes of green…By all the magic ever seen…I wish you luck this HALLOWEEN!!”

Offering up the option of a Trick or Treat is a USA made, SYW exclusive sign featuring a black bat and spooky typography. The handcrafted frame and birch wood add a rustic look to your seasonal home accents and Halloween displays.

A little ghost can add a classic Halloween look to your collectibles and seasonal decor, and this one will also brighten them up. An LED light illuminates this waxy figure holding a BOO banner, and the included bag and twine make this accent a perfect party favor, too.

Finally, one of our newest witch sculptures. Nellie here holds a broomstick, ready to fly off into the night. Shiny gold accents adorn the bow on her hat, her legs and the bodice of her black dress for a sparkling look on a shelf or mantel.
