Blank Wall Solutions for Your Home

Thursday, January 26th, 2017

There are many ways to decorate the walls of your home, and sometimes rearranging wall art, photos, decorative accents or even painting can offer a fresh look in a room without too much work. Here are some blank wall solutions for when you find yourself in a decorating rut.

Wallpaper or Paint

Wallpaper has had its ups and downs in home decorating, but using it, like any other home accent, is all about personal preference. Use wallpaper to create an accent wall, or find a subtle pattern to decorate a whole room. The same goes for a new paint color; in both cases, consult a professional to learn the correct methods for application and to gain insight on complementing colors.

Gallery Wall of Photos

Gallery walls are an easy go-to for a blank wall, as chances are you already have photographs displayed around the house. Mix or match sizes, textures and even colors of frames to fill a wall with personal mementos. Take a look at some of our favorite gallery wall looks here.

Organization

Especially in a hallway, mudroom, kitchen or small space, a blank wall can be helpful when there is not a lot of extra space for odds and ends. Wall hooks come in many sizes, shapes and styles for a variety of uses. Use a single wall hook for pet leashes or keys, and use multiple for backpacks, jackets and larger items. Cupboards provide a great storage solution for items you want to keep tucked away out of sight, or items you don’t need on a daily basis. Adding these to a wall can clear up floor or closet space in your home while offering decorative appeal.

Seasonal Decoratives

Of course, your blank walls can be filled with seasonal decoratives that change throughout the year. Switch out holiday wreaths for metal wall art in the shape of a heart, add a St. Patrick’s Day sign and then decorate with spring prints and imagery, switch to Fourth of July decor and then to fall, and before you know it the holiday season will begin again. This is a great way to redecorate without making big changes to your home, which will exude a festive feeling all year long.

Star Berry Vine Wallpaper Wallpaper

Choosing to decorate your walls with wallpaper instead of paint will open up more design opportunities. Wallpaper such as the one pictured here to the left, can bring a distinctive style and level of elegance into the home. Our new Star Berry Vine Wallpaper features meandering vines of tiny red berries and rusted, golden barn stars decorate the entirety, for a classic country or primitive feel.

Customers will love that this wallpaper is conveniently pre-pasted for easy application. This option is also available with a cream background.

Door Arches

If your walls are already decorated, but you need something to tie your room’s theme together, consider a door arch such as the one shown here to the right. The Country Kitchen Door Arch is ideal for adding interest to the space above a door frame. This particular door arch works well in a kitchen or pantry environment, due to its farmhouse table design.

Accented with a wooden “country kitchen” sign and a vine arrangement of stars and berries, the appeal is warm and inviting; other designs are available.

Star Barn Wall Mural Wall Murals

Perhaps you’re considering a larger way to decorate your blank walls. We suggest our Star Barn Wall Mural shown here to the left to make an impactful statement. The well-known “Star Barn” in Middletown, Pennsylvania is a recognized National Historic Landmark, and one of the most famously painted and photographed barns in the country. Originally built in 1872, decorating with this wall mural is like adding a piece of American history to your walls.

A wall mural such as this one will set the tone in any room or hallway; other designs are available.

Room Borders

Our Bird Cages & Flowers Wall Border pictured to the right, adds true vintage styling to any room of your home. Displaying varied sizes of cream colored vases, the beautiful pink, purple, and green flowers appear to be in full bloom. Surrounded by wire metal bird cages, other accents include books wrapped in twine, Asian inspired jewelry boxes and pottery.

The wall border consists of a 5 yard spool with a pattern repeat every 9″. Wall borders like this one look nice adhered to either the top or mid section of your wall; other designs are available.
