Shortbread Cookie Recipe

Reindeer Shortbread PanA medieval recipe refined by Mary, Queen of Scots in the 16th century, shortbread was a luxury treat reserved for the very wealthy on special occasions like Christmas. Traditionally made with granulated sugar, try this brown sugar variation.

You Will Need:
2 C butter, softened
1 C packed brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
4 C all-purpose flour

Instructions:
Preheat oven according to pan instructions.
Cream butter and brown sugar.
Stir in vanilla.
Add flour and mix well.
Spread into shortbread pan.
Bake according to pan instructions.

Amazing Leftover Turkey Sandwich

Flour Sack TowelsGot turkey? Try this amazing sandwich that my family looks forward to having every holiday.

You Will Need:
Leftover turkey meat
Leftover cranberry sauce
Leftover stuffing
Fresh sourdough bread

Instructions:
Slice bread.
Assemble turkey, and stuffing.
Spread liberally with cranberry sauce.
Toast in toaster oven or conventional oven.
Enjoy!

Mulled Wine with Maine Syrup

Santa with Wine BasketGood – good – good – good li-ba-tions…. Try this Maine variation on mulled wine.

You Will Need:
2 1/2 Tbs whole allspice berries
2, 4in cinnamon sticks
2 Tbs dried orange peel pieces
2 Tbs whole cloves
3/4 C Maine maple syrup
1 bottle red wine

Instructions:
Combine all in a saucepan.
Heat on medium until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally.
Strain before serving warm.

Protect your wine glasses! Put a spoon in the glass to prevent breakage when the warm wine is poured in.
