There are simple ways to incorporate this lovely look, and there are almost endless craft projects involving lace that will give any room a personal, inviting feel. We have found a couple that are not too time consuming, but will still impress anyone who comes into your home; and don’t worry non-DIYers, we also have some recommendations for what type of lacy accents will complement your décor with minimal work.

When in doubt, put it in a frame! Whether you find classic lace printables, use paper doilies or lacy accents, or are looking for a place to tastefully display yours or grandma’s treasured doilies, putting them under glass and on the wall (or on a tabletop) is the simplest way to add lace to any room. Choose unique frames, interesting shapes, or hang just one frame as a centerpiece for a bedroom or family room. Add colorful or patterned paper behind the lacy piece to make more of a statement and to add a little color, especially if that lace is white.

DIY

A popular craft project uses lace and glassware, like Mason jars, and some adhesive, to instantly create elegant vases, pretty lanterns, party decorations among others. Although you can use the sewing machine to add lace to glassware, adhesive glue works just as well. These Burlap and Doily Luminaries are stunning, and we love that there is plenty of room for personalization (and that burlap is used!).

And More…

Of course, you don’t have to slave over a jar or do your best to get that doily centered in a frame. Lace accents can be found almost anywhere, and we suggest looking for lace with one thing in mind: minimalism. A table runner, a few complementing doilies, or beautiful lace curtains on your windows are great accents to start a shabby chic look with. Choose color or a classic white or ivory, and always be thinking “less is more;” you don’t need numerous lace pieces to make a statement because lace speaks for itself.
